Temporary Change of Consular Services
Due to the spread of Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) in Nigeria, we have decided to temporarily change consular services to be available by appointment only starting from Monday, 30th March 2020 until further notice. This change is to continue the provision of essential consular services while paying the maximum attention to the prevention of infection among visitors.
Before visiting the Embassy, please contact our consular section (see point 2. below) by e-mail or phone and describe about your application.

(1) We have decided to temporarily change our consular services to be available by appointment only starting from Monday, 30th March 2020 until further notice. As President Buhari strongly advised to stay home and to avoid non-essential outings, if it is not an urgent matter, please visit us later once this emergency situation has settled down.
(2) All visitors will need to pass through thermal screening. If the thermal screening shows high temperature (37.5 degree Celsius or more), the visitor cannot enter the Embassy.
(3) After passing through the thermal screening, the visitor should rub the alcohol- based sanitizer on his/her hands before entering the Embassy.
(4) We ask for your kind understanding that our security and consular officers are
encouraged to wear masks and gloves to prevent infection.

Applications for passport (including travel document for return to Japan), certification, family registration (described as KOSEKI), overseas voting, and notification of residence (described as ZAIRYUU-TODOKE) are acceptable. Please understand that the processing time may take longer than usual. If it is not an urgent matter, please apply later once this emergency situation has settled down.
