(2) Details of the application process and documents required can be found on the above website. Please note that a service charge will be applied to each application in addition to the standard visa fees. For applications made in Lagos, a separate courier fee will also be charged for the transfer of documents (both ways between the Lagos and Abuja centres). Details of fees and charges can also be found on the above website.
(3) The Embassy will continue to accept visa applications at the Embassy’s Consular office for urgent humanitarian cases, diplomatic and official business and the cases where applicants are invited by the Government of Japan. All applications, including those received at the centres, will continue to be subject to strict screening by the Embassy.
(Notes)
◆If the visa is not granted or the visa fee is exempt, the visa fee will be refunded (the service charge is non-refundable).
◆The processing time from visa application to passport collection at the centre is 12 working days for Abuja and 14 working days for Lagos, provided there are no problems with the application. However, if there are a large number of applicants or if the application documents are incomplete etc., it will take longer.
◆Visa applications, except for the categories mentioned in (3) above, will no longer be accepted at the Embassy's consular office from 3 March 2025. However, applications from those who have already made an appointment with the Embassy will continue to be accepted at the Embassy (in this case, passports will also be returned at the Embassy).
