The Embassy of Japan in Nigeria has one (1) vacancy in the Development Cooperation Section for a full-time assistant.
1. Vacant Position
(1) Position Title: Development Cooperation Assistant
(2) Number of required: 1 (One) position
(3) Type of Employment: One year*
* Renewable. Subject to 3 (Three)-month probationary period.
(4) Location: Embassy of Japan in Nigeria
No.9, Bobo Street (off Gana Street), Maitama, Abuja, Nigeria
(5)Applicability: A degree in international relations, public administration or a related field is desirable (Bachelor's degree or above).
(6) Salary, Bonus and Allowance*: Depending on skills and experiences.
* To be announced to the successful candidate when the Embassy decidees to recruit.
(7) Job Environment: Full-time (38 hours 45 minutes/week)*.
* Overtime work (including evenings, weekends and/or holidays), and response to urgent summons will be required from time to time.
(8) Working Hours:
Mon – Thu: 8:00 to 17:30 (Lunch break: 12:00 to 13:00)
Fri: 8:00 to 12:45
(9) Annual leave and Holidays: Provided in accordance with internal regulations.

(1) Collect up-to-date data and information on development cooperation programs and trends.
(2) Conduct research and analysis on development priorities and needs.
(3) Handle correspondence and inquiries related to development cooperation projects
(4) Propose and evaluate new partnerships and projects in development cooperation planning work.
(5) Manage the progress of development cooperation projects and communicate with stakeholders.
(6) Evaluate the effectiveness and results of development cooperation relations and compile reports and recommendations.
(7) Other administrative assistance

3. Qualifications/Skills/Experience
- Extensive knowledge and interest in international relations / development.
- Should have strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good ability to gather information on development cooperation and select reliable sources of information.
- Good communication skills and the ability to prepare reports and presentations.
- Ability to work in a team and adhere to deadlines.
- Have an interest in and understanding of development cooperation-related planning work.
- Must have Computer Skills/ Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and, etc...).
- Cheerful, courteous and cooperative manner in dealings with all members of Embassy staff, and guests.
- Demonstrate Flexibility and versatility.
- Written and oral communication skills in English.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in following through with tasks to completion.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships and work within a team.
- Displays personal integrity and an honest and ethical approach.
