Police certificate

Police certificate verifies the criminal or non-criminal record of a person while they lived in Japan.
It is issued only for specific purposes that the National Police Agency (NPA) has acknowledged (e.g. application for permanent residency in Canada, U.S.A. or Australia).

(2) The Consular section's staff collects applicant’s fingerprints at the time of application.

(4) Evidence that can confirm the period you lived in Japan (e.g. old passport, residence card, etc.) (Both original and photocopy are required)
(5) Evidence that police certificate is required by the country you will submit your police certificate to (Both original and photocopy are required)

2. Application Procedure
(1) Applicant must apply in person at the Embassy by appointment only.(2) The Consular section's staff collects applicant’s fingerprints at the time of application.
(3) Come in person to receive police certificate.
※Alternatively, a proxy person can receive police certificat on behalf of the applicant with a letter of authorization signed by applicant and the proxy person’s valid photo ID

Applicant is required to submit 5 documents below at the time of police certificate application.(1) Application form for police certificate

4. Appointment booking
Applicant is required to send us an email to visanigeria@la.mofa.go.jp for booking an appointment with the 6 information below.Please note that your appointment has not yet been fixed until you receive an email for confirmation from us.
