MEXT Scholarship Pre-Departure Orientation and Returnees’ Presentation

On 28 March, Ambassador Suzuki hosted a pre-departure orientation for Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT) government-sponsored students, combined with a post-study abroad in Japan presentation session for the returning students, at the Ambassador’s residence.

In his opening remarks, Ambassador Suzuki expressed that MEXT scholars serve as a bridge between Nigeria and Japan, and expressed his hope that they would go on to play a leading role not only in Nigeria but across the entire African continent.


Furthermore, the participants who had returned to Nigeria after completing their studies in Japan gave presentations on their respective study abroad experiences and shared the experiences in Japan.
In addition, a representative of the students due to depart for Japan delivered a statement of resolve, whilst former Ambassador to Japan, Amb Prof Mohammed Gana Yisa, speaking on behalf of the Nigeria-Japan Alumni Association (NAIJAA), offered words of encouragement to the students departing for Japan and words of appreciation to those returning home.
