Ambassador’s Courtesy Visit to the Lagos State Governor

On 18 February 2026, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo paid a courtesy visit to Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, Executive Governor of Lagos State.
The Ambassador stated that Lagos State is considered a crucial state serving as the economic and commercial hub not only for Nigeria but for the whole of West Africa, and that the Japanese Government attaches great importance to maintaining good relations with Lagos State.
The Governor remarked that Japan and Nigeria have built an excellent bilateral relationship over several decades and expressed his desire to further deepen this positive relationship going forward. The Governor also stated that Lagos State is an ideal location for Japanese companies to conduct business and expressed his expectation for their further business expansion in Lagos state.
