New Year’s Greeting from Ambassador Suzuki

Happy New Year.
I am pleased to mark my second New Year as Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria.
In 2025, numerous distinguished guests, including H.E. Mr. Bola Tinubu, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and H.E. Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar, Minister of Foreign Affairs, visited Japan for TICAD 9, held under the theme “Co-creation of Innovative Solutions.” In addition, many delegations travelled to Japan in connection with Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, making it a year in which our bilateral relations further deepened.
In December, I had the honour of presenting my credentials to President Tinubu. This year, I hope to create more opportunities to meet with cabinet ministers and to strengthen cooperation with the Federal and State Governments as well as members of the National Assembly. We will also continue to actively support Japanese and Japan-affiliated companies in expanding their business ties with Nigeria.
Furthermore, we will also continue to share information that enables the people of Nigeria to feel closer to Japan.
With sincere appreciation for your continued warm support and cooperation, the Embassy remains committed to advancing Japan–Nigeria relations across various fields throughout this year.
Lastly, I extend my heartfelt wishes that 2026 brings good health, happiness, and prosperity to you all.
