Embassy of Japan in Nigeria Advances UN Women Collaboration for Gender Equality

On 21 November 2025, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo received Ms. Beatrice Eyong, UN Women Country Representative to Nigeria, and her delegation at the Embassy. The Ambassador welcomed the team and commended UN Women’s continued efforts in promoting women’s empowerment and inclusive development in Nigeria.

Ms. Eyong conveyed her gratitude for Japan’s longstanding support to UN Women programmes, particularly those benefitting women and girls across Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States in Nigeria.

They discussed progress in women’s economic empowerment, political participation, and peacebuilding efforts, and exchanged views on how to further strengthen collaboration.

The Ambassador reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting UN Women and acknowledged the organisation’s role in advancing gender equality and sustainable development in Nigeria.
