Embassy of Japan Welcomes NLNG CEO — Strengthening Japan–Nigeria Energy Cooperation

On 30 October 2025, H.E. Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo received Dr. Philip Mshelbila, Managing Director/CEO of Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG). The meeting reaffirmed the deep-rooted partnership between NLNG and Japanese industry.
Dr. Mshelbila shared the experience from NLNG’s visit to Japan, noting the company’s focus on continuous improvement as emphasised in Japan’s KAIZEN spirit. He highlighted enduring collaborations with Japanese partners, including the integration of Japanese technology from the earliest trains at Bonny Island.
Ambassador Suzuki commended NLNG’s steady efforts to strengthen Nigeria’s gas landscape and its commitment to domestic LPG supply and infrastructure development. He reiterated Japan’s interest in encouraging further collaboration with Japanese companies in LNG production, gas distribution, and power-related projects.
