On 13 November 2025, Deputy Head of Mission KOZAKI Hitoshi attended “From Opportunities to Partnerships: Building scalable business partnerships,” a side event for Africa Special Day at Lagos International Trade Fair, organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

The event forms part of the Japan-funded supplementary budget project with UNDP, “Unlocking Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) ,” focusing on Ghana, Nigeria, Kenya and Tanzania with a total contribution of USD 1 million.

The event brought together key stakeholders, including Mr. Gabriel Idahosa, FCA, President of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, H.E. Mr. Christophe Bazivamo, Ambassador of Rwanda to Nigeria, and representatives of UNDP. The event created opportunities to promote investment and strengthen business partnerships under the AfCFTA framework.

Japan remains committed to supporting more robust regional integration and connectivity through the AfCFTA as it has been highlighted at the 9th Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD9) in August 2025.
