The Embassy of Japan in Nigeria and the Japan Foundation host “Japan Day” at the 14th Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF)

The Embassy of Japan in Nigeria and the Japan Foundation, in collaboration with the Africa International Film Festival (AFRIFF), hosted the “Japan Day” on November 6th and 7th, at Twin Waters Entertainment Centre in Lagos.
The two-day event celebrated Japanese cinema by screening six internationally acclaimed films: The Imaginary, Anime Supremacy! , Akira, Godzilla Minus One, and Sand Land.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo emphasized the power of cinema and said that it not only connect people and cultures, but also serve as a source of inspiration and a beacon that leads us forward. He concluded by expressing his hope that this event would serve as a bridge to further deepen cultural ties and strengthen the bonds of friendship between Japan and Nigeria.
The event also featured goodwill messages from Mr. Masakazu TAKAHASHI, representative of the Japan Foundation, and Mr. Jean Fall, representative of the Africa International Film Festival.
They celebrated the “Japan Day” and highlighted that the event helped promote cultural exchange and mutual understanding between Japan and Nigeria through art and film.
The guests enjoyed inspiring discussions, film showcases, and a cocktail networking session, which further deepened creative collaboration between the two countries.
