Self-Defence Forces Day Reception

On 3 September 2025, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo hosted the Self-Defence Forces Day Reception at Fraser Suites Hotel in Abuja. The event attracted over 110 distinguished guests, including representatives from the Presidency, the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces, as well as members of the diplomatic and defence attaché corps, making it a truly vibrant gathering.
In his opening remarks, Ambassador Suzuki highlighted the success of TICAD9 and the recent Japan–Nigeria Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, reaffirming the shared commitment of both countries to peace, stability, and people-to-people exchanges, while expressing his hopes for the continued growth and development of Japan–Nigeria relations.
Senior Special Assistant to the President, Foreign Affairs and International Relations, Mr. Enikanolayie, also delivered remarks celebrating the strong bonds and future partnership between Japan and Nigeria.
Guests enjoyed a rich cultural program featuring Japanese kimono, a traditional tea ceremony set, authentic Japanese cuisine like sushi and tempura, and sake. The event not only showcased Japanese culture but also contributed to strengthening partnerships between Nigeria, Japan, and friends from around the world.
