On 30th August 2025, the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria proudly hosted a Farewell and Welcome Reception to honour the exceptional individuals comprising the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholars community. The event celebrated both the aspirations of departing scholars embarking on their studies in Japan and the achievements of those who have recently returned, enriched by their experiences. Esteemed members of the Nigeria-Japan Alumni Association (NAIJAA) also graced the occasion, highlighting the enduring spirit of collaboration.

The reception provided a vibrant forum for scholars to connect, share their invaluable insights, and foster a strong sense of camaraderie. These exchanges underscore the continuous dedication of NAIJAA members in cultivating robust relationships between Japan and Nigeria. Their unwavering commitment serves as a testament to their invaluable role as a "treasure" in bolstering our bilateral ties.

In an inspiring address, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo encouraged the scholars to embrace their potential as future leaders, not only within Nigeria but across the African continent.

The Embassy extends its warmest wishes to the departing scholars as they embark on their academic journeys and offers a heartfelt welcome back to the returning scholars. Your contributions are instrumental to Nigeria's progress and the flourishing friendship between Japan and Nigeria. Our sincere gratitude goes to NAIJAA for their extraordinary dedication and tireless efforts.
