Japan Supports Livelihood in North-east Nigeria

On 19 August 2025, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo attended the Project Steering Committee at the United Nations House, Abuja, which was organized by the UNDP Nigeria. He highlighted the success of the conclusion of the “Fast track of Early and Sustainable Recovery” project in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states.

The meeting was attended by Dr. Sampson Ebimaro, Acting Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Ms. Varsha Redkar-Palepu, Deputy Resident Representative-Programme, UNDP Nigeria, and representatives from BAY states.

The representatives from the participating states presented their sustainability action plan through engagement with farmers, skills acquisition program, village services and loan acquisition program, infrastructures in the community such as primary health care centres, peace dialogue initiatives, sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV) advisory groups, and community ownership programmes.
In his remarks, Ambassador SUZUKI said the project is a testament to the power of solidarity and Japan will continue to stand with Nigeria, shoulder to shoulder, on the path to lasting peace and total recovery.
