Send-forth for 20 Promising Nigerian Young Professionals as New JICA Scholars

On 21 August 2025, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo attended the send-forth ceremony for new Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) scholars who will start their master’s or doctoral studies in Japan this academic year, including Africa Business Education (ABE) Initiative 12th batch, SDGs Global Leader Program, Agri-Net, PREPARE, and GX, hosted by JICA and Kakehashi Africa – Nigeria Initiative.
The ceremony was graced by JICA representative to Nigeria, Mr YUZURIO Susumu, who advised the scholars to utilize the diverse available programmes that will benefit Nigeria in their course of study in Japan. Additionally, many former ABE students shared their various experiences of their studies in Japan with the new JICA scholars.
In his remarks, Ambassador SUZUKI encouraged the scholars to look beyond their classrooms and research labs, and to immerse themselves in the culture, such as learning the language, savoring the food, and exploring the breathtaking landscapes. He said they will be leaders armed with global perspectives and ambassadors who will be “Kakehashi” (bridge) between Nigeria and Japan.
