On 16 August 2025, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo visited the Iganmu Tiger Football Club in Lagos to donate 34 sets of football uniforms on behalf of Kisarazu City in Japan. The handover ceremony celebrated the club's remarkable success as a bridge for athletic talent between Nigeria and Japan.

Iganmu Tiger FC, with over 50 young athletes, has already forged a strong partnership with the Japanese football community. Currently, ten of its players are in Japan pursuing professional careers and two players achieved their childhood dream of becoming professional football players, signing professional contracts with J.League clubs.

The uniforms were special gifts from Kisarazu City in Chiba, which served as the official host town for Team Nigeria during the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

In his remarks, Ambassador SUZUKI praised the founder of Iganmu Tiger FC, Mr. Abayomi Egbayelo, and the coaching staff for their tireless work in developing young talents and opening doors to careers abroad. He celebrated sports as a way to “build powerful bridges between Nigeria and Japan.”

This donation serves as a symbol of mutual respect and long-term partnership. It’s another step forward in the great relationship between Japan and Nigeria, built on shared values, youth empowerment, and a common love for football.
