2025/7/25

On July 22, 2025, Ambassador SUZUKI Hideo co-hosted the 3rd meeting of the Japan-Nigeria Business Facilitation Council (JNBFC) alongside the Nigeria Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO).

The meeting was attended by representatives from seven Japanese companies, the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), JETRO, and more than 20 key members from Nigerian Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

JNBFC was established to promote and strengthen the business relationship between Japan and Nigeria, following the consensus reached between Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and President Muhammadu Buhari at their summit meeting in 2019.

During this third meeting, Japanese companies and Nigerian MDAs exchanged views on the Japanese companies’ activities in Nigeria, the business challenges faced by Japanese companies and the current policies of the Nigerian government which address these challenges.

Ambassador Suzuki reiterated the importance of continued close communication and cooperation between the public and private sectors of both countries to further enhance business facilitation, address challenges aiming at co-creating sustainable solutions, and promote investments. NIPC CEO Aisha Rimi emphasized the NIPC’s continuous support to eliminate obstacles for Japanese companies and to enhance investor confidence.
