Japan Boosts Nigeria’s Circular Economy with New Technology

On 20 March 2025, KOZAKI Hitoshi, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of Japan in Nigeria, attended the handover ceremony of Plastic Polyethylene Recycling equipment at Idu Industrial Area in Abuja. He was joined by H.E. Mallam. Balarabe Abbas Lawal, Hon. Minister of Environment, and Mr. Osuji Otu, UNIDO National Programme Officer.
The Laser Filter and Sand Remover Systems, funded by Government of Japan through a partnership with UNIDO, will enhance Nigeria’s capabilities in managing plastic waste, particularly water sachets and thin plastic film.
This technology enhances ongoing support for Nigeria’s circular economy. Japan remains committed to Africa’s sustainable development.
