Emperor's Birthday Celebration

Summary: On 12th February, Ambassador KIKUTA hosted the Japanese National Day Reception to celebrate the birthday of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan.
Because Japan enteredinto the new era “REIWA” last year, this reception was the first-ever to celebrate the birthday of the New Emperor of Japan.
Ambassador KIKUTA mentioned that Japan, which has been a long time committed development partner for Nigeria, opened its Embassy first in the same year of Nigerian’s independence, 1960, and His Majesty Emperor of Japan and Nigeria will be 60 years old because the Japanese Emperor was born in 1960.
In addition, he pointed last year’s VIPs visits in Japan, for example, H.E. President Buhari for TICAD7 (https://www.ng.emb-japan.go.jp/files/000519398.pdf), the establishment of Japan Nigeria Business Facilitation Council in last November, people to people exchange and culture including upcoming this year’s Tokyo Olympics and Paralympic Games.
In the end of his welcome speech, he expressed his high expectation for this newly started decade for Nigeria and Japan.
After his speech, Senator Udoma, the first-ever Nigerian recipient of the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star in the name of His Majesty the Emperor of Japan, gave his congratulatory remark, followed by Mr. Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
The attendees tasted Japanese Food, Sushi and Sake, and the reception ended with a warm atmosphere.
