Non-Project Grant Aid for Provision of Japanese SME’s Products: Handover Ceremony of 12 Ambulances

Project Content:The handover ceremony of 12 ambulances (the last batch) in Japan’s Non-Project Grant Aid for Provision of Japanese SME’s (*1) Products took place on 27th July in Abuja. The Government of Japan has extended the grant aid of JPY 400 million (equivalent to USD 4.1 million) (*2) to the Government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in order to contribute to the enhancement of the health care system in Nigeria. The first batch of 31 ambulances was handed over on 30th June 2017. As a result, every state of Nigeria and the FCT now have at least one Japanese ambulance.
Ambassador Yutaka Kikuta and other representatives from the Embassy of Japan, Minister of Health H.E. Prof. Isaac Adewole, representatives from the Ministry of Budget and National Planning, representatives from each medical institution and others participated in the ceremony. It was widely reported by the local media. The people and the Government of Japan hope these ambulances will enable more Nigerians to have improved access to emergency health care in Nigeria and thus Nigeria’s health sector will be further enhanced.
